Neath RFC

Neath RFC play their last home league game before Christmas when they host Ystrad Rhondda in the Admiral Championship at The Gnoll on Saturday (kick off 2.30pm).

Ystrad defeated Maesteg Quins (26-19) last weekend and took Neath all the way earlier in the season in a thrilling Cup game which the Blacks shaded 31-25. Games between the two Clubs are inevitably enthralling affairs and the same will probably be the case on Saturday.

Neath won at Trebanos last week (29-21) – their tenth consecutive win which took them to the heady heights of second in the table behind Bargoed and just ahead of Pontypool – and the starting line-up again shows several personnel changes, six in all.

Captain Aaron Bramwell, James Roberts and Aaron Grabham form a dangerous back three. Ryan Evans and David Langdon continue at centre with Steff Williams and Nicky Griffiths at half.

Up front, hooker Sion Crocker returns after a calf injury to pack between Gareth Lloyd and Tim Ryan with Jacob Blackmore and Ross O’Connor locking behind them. Alun Jones and Scott Hicks go alongside Owain Morgan in the back row.

The replacements’ bench features forwards Morgan Thomas, Jack Powell and David Griggs. Iwan Johnes covers scrum-half and Ben Atkins, not available last week, the outside positions.
