Neath and Beddau served up their usual cliff-hanger – Paul Short’s third conversion settling a 10-try thriller and making it the third time in four for the fixture to be decided by a last-gasp kick.

Neath had the better of the first-half and sealed a bonus point and a 27-7 lead via tries by centre Sam Harris, wingers Morgan Meaclem and Anglo-Scot Lachlan Barron and prop Mason Morgan with Short converting two and kicking a penalty.

Beddau replied with a try by Callaghan Smith who converted and added the points to a second try on the stroke of half-time by flanker Steff Gibson

Beddau came out and ruled the roost after half-time as tries were added by excellent full back Cody Baker, wing Iwan Griffith and scrum-half Smith who converted two and the visitors led 33-27.

But in a splendid display of entertaining rugby Neath dug deep and dominated the last 10 minutes and hit back with a fifth try just before the final whistle scored by hooker Sion Jones – then it was down to Short to hold his nerve for the match-winning conversion which he did.
