FROM MASCOT TO DEBUT TRY

16 years ago the little lad clutching the rugby ball watched on as his proud father held the Welsh Cup.

Today that same young lad scored a try on his debut for Neath aaginst Trebanos, dabbing down for a debut try after just 10 minutes.

Elis Horgan was the scorer, earning a full beam smile from father Pat, and there to watch him were his Neath Athletic Colts team-mates who had beaten Pontardawe in an early kick off.

Neath went on to win 27-nil – and 16 years ago they were winners too when the Blacks beat Caerphilly 36-13 to win the first Cup Final of the regional era.
