Neath RFC

Neath back rower Leon Ward played his 200th game for the Blacks in the 33-7 win over Aberdare on Friday when he was honoured with leading the side onto the field as captain.

Leon trod the well-worn path to The Gnoll from Neath Athletic and made his debut in a memorable British & Irish Cup win over London Welsh in 2011.
He has served the Club well and with pride, often turning out as an emergency second row, and he has scored 14 tries for the Blacks.

His father Tom is Neath’s kit man so it really is a family affair and it was appropriate that Leon’s former back row team-mate Lee Evans was there as coach of Aberdare.

Leon is pictured receiving a commemorative plaque from coach Patrick Horgan after the game and the Club’s congratulations go to him on reaching the landmark and joining the select band of players to have done so.
