Neath RFC

Our responsibility to our incredible fans is to be upfront, honest and forthright. What has happened to our club is grossly unfair and we feel obliged to show you truthfully, and in detail, why.

The club has had a few days to plan its future, following the reprehensible WRU decision to solely deny us entry to the EDC. We wish those other teams who have been permitted entry all the very best and we should be playing against you next season in some epic matches.

It’s our privilege to produce financial documentation for transparency and to prove that point 1 (financial non-compliance and credit rating) from the WRU for our non-entry, was bogus and harmful to the Neath RFC brand.

To back this up, we will provide documents to our supporter’s club from our major sponsor agreements and a rental agreement which guarantees our income can be published in short succession after we circulate our “ambitious” business plan, originally commended by the WRU.

Following the uprising from our passionate fans whom we will fight hard for on all decisions, we would like to state that we would like to be considered for the “extra space” that we justly and in a timely manner applied for. The team, coaches and CIC members would appreciate it if we are fairly accepted to the EDC, instead of shoehorning in ‘‘another club’ as many are predicting and planned by the panel.

While our finances have been questioned, we have been trying to obtain from the WRU key financial information for over 7 months about a debt dating back 20 years. This gross idiosyncratic “additional rent payment” to the WRU remains an historic debt that burdens us. While paying circa £300k to the WRU, we have yet to have been provided with the original agreement or ledger. This is ongoing. A new solicitor and conveyancer are currently making last-minute suggestions to us before we approach the WRU on this front for answers. Put simply, we wish to bring the sublease from a 2004 agreement from then CEO Moffat and then owners of the Ltd company at Neath, back in-house. We would welcome a meeting about this having failed as a club for nearly a year to get anywhere. Please get in touch with one of our CIC members or chairman, we are very welcome to discourse on this and/or the EDC.

The club also reserves the right to show hard evidence of our difficult dealings with the Ospreys, following our low ranking of “relationship” between region and club

This club is an historic and proud club with passionate supporters and an enviable history. We will not take any decision lightly. We will defend our position with velocity and energy. To not be mentioned in the WRU press release (9 places awarded article) means we are irrelevant to them. Regardless of the decision by the WRU, we operate for the players, the fans and the community and will do incredible things in rugby and the community.

We are not irrelevant and we are here to stay – N for Neath!Neath!Neath!
