The Foster’s Sevens tournament will take place on Bank Holiday Sunday 28 August at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park and will culminate a summer in which rugby sevens will enjoy unprecedented profile thanks to its inclusion at the Olympic Games in Rio.

Fosters’ Chris Lloyd and Scarlets flanker James Davies conducted the Foster’s 7s draw in the unusual setting of Aberavon Beach and Neath have drawn Davies’ former club Carmarthen Quins place Neath in Round 1.

The rest of the first round draw sees champions Llandovery play Bedwas while last year’s beaten finalists Pontypridd face Premiership newcomers Bargoed.

Last season’s Plate winners Llanelli (who beat Neath in the final) play promoted Swansea while the Championship champs Merthyr were drawn against Cross Keys.

Aberavon will play Newport while the remaining first round fixtures are Ebbw Vale v Cardiff and RGC v Bridgend.
