The WRU is seeking the help of any Level 1 referees out there who would be prepared to referee the occasional 2nd team and Youth matches and thus ensure that no matches are cancelled at those levels because of a lack of officials.

Anyone willing to step in during an emergency – and it will only be in an emergency – would ensure that the game goes ahead.

The Level 1 referee would only be expected to referee his/her own club and there would be a small remuneration for their services.

Should the referee be required, the WRU also would send a mentor on the day to support the referee. If a Level 1 referee would benefit from further training, then this will be provided in terms of a webinar and digital support and also provide the referee with the opportunity to be fast tracked and gain a Level 2 refereeing qualification.
