Neath College centre Tiaan Thomas-Wheeler who made his Neath debut at Bridgend last month has been included in the Wales U-20’s squad for this year’s World Cup which will be held in France.

Tiaan who plays cricket for Neath and has also played for Trebanos appears set to to play full back, a position he has already occupied for Ospreys.

Wales are in a tough group and will take on Australia in Béziers on Wednesday 30 May (20:00 BST), then New Zealand at the same venue on Sunday 3 June (15:30). They then round off their Pool with a trip to Perpignan to play Japan on Thursday 7 June (17:30).

Neath team manager Martyn Morris said, “We are all delighted for Tiaan who, in his short time with us, has shown great poise and potential. In recent years, players like Kieran Williams and Reuben Morgan-Williams have flourished with the Under-20’s and it is a wonderful opportunity for Tiaan who could easily have been joined on the plane by other Neath lads.”
