Neath RFC

“Catch22 Rugby” recently researched the number of “Twitter” followers each Premiership club has with Pontypridd RFC still out in front :-

Pontypridd             15,413                            Ebbw Vale                       8,383

Cardiff                  11,261                            Merthyr                           8,053

Llanelli                    9,924                            Swansea                          7,922

Newport                  9,317                            Bridgend                         7,698

Aberavon                 8,917                            Llandovery                      6,747

RGC                         7.929                            Carmarthen Quins           5,891

Of course, the number of “Twitter” followers does not reflect the actual support through the gates.

It may indicate a level of “background” support but it may even penalise clubs which have active and lively web-sites. And, where identities are blurred, it may even reflect the number of regional followers hitting club accounts by mistake !

However, the figures are interesting and “Catch22 Rugby” has also compiled the figures for the Championship :-

NEATH                   10,946                            Ystrad Rhondda               4,476

Pontypool                8,296                            Glamorgan Wand.           3,690

Cross Keys              7,435                            Trebanos                         2,755

Bedwas                   7,028                            Narberth                         2,685

Cardiff Met             6,180                            Ystalyfera                       2,521

Beddau                    5,682                            Maesteg Quins                 2,277

Bargoed                  5,407                            Tata Steel                        2,271

A small push should see Neath RFC past the 11,000 mark and in any case it is nice to see Neath RFC on top – it would be better still if all those followers were to attend at The Gnoll !

Whatsoever, it is pleasing to see that we have a strong following – so thank you, all.
