Neath RFC

Neath are putting the finishing touches to their squad and, ahead of their
pre-season friendly fixtures which start at Maesteg on Saturday,
August 13th,two more forwards have signed on at The Gnoll.

Prop Matthew Jeffreys bolsters the front-row resources at the Club having
spent time in Australia and New Zealand. The 26 year old Abercrave
product played provincial rugby for West Coast last season but is now
back home and eager to start playing in Wales again.

Also linking with the All Blacks is 19 year old lock forward Tom Hayward,
a former member of the Cardiff Blues Academy and Pentyrch, who is
studying at Swansea University. He too will add depth to the front
five which coach Gareth Llewellyn is fast re-modelling.

Team Manager Martyn Morris said, “We have nearly finalised the squad now
with all bases covered and a group of associate players who we will
continue to monitor and develop as the season builds.

“Both Matthew and Tom are in good physical shape and fit the mould for the
type of game we are trying to develop. This is a big opportunity for
them to establish themselves at Neath.

“Training is going really well and all the squad are focussed now on getting
into action. Season Ticket sales have far out-stripped this time last year and
we aim to give the Town of Neath and its District something to be
proud of again.”
