Neath RFC is saddened to hear of the passing of former Wales captain and British and Irish Lions centre Arthur Lewis who has died at the age of 84.
Arthur Lewis graduated from Crumlin RFC to play for Ebbw Vale RFC – but he also made one appearance for Neath at the end of the 1962/63 season when he helped out the All Blacks in a nil-3 defeat at Ynysangharad Park against Pontypridd who were Welsh champions that season.
He went on to play against Neath on at least 20 occasions and became one of the most accomplished and direct centres in the country. He made 11 Wales appearances and was a British Lion on the successful tour to New Zealand in 1971.
Neath RFC’s condolences go to Arthur’s family and his many friends.
