Neath RFC

Neath RFC is saddened to hear of the passing of Newport RFC, Wales and British Lions legend Brian Price.
Brian enjoyed a very distinguished rugby career, captaining Newport to victory over New Zealand in 1963 and leading Wales to two Triple Crowns.
He was virtually ever-present for Newport against Neath during the 1960’s when East and West inevitably clashed at the top of the old ‘Western Mail’ championship.
Neath RFC secretary Mike Price said, “Brian was a good friend of Neath RFC via his second row partner Brian Thomas and to hear them ‘in action’ in post-match debate was a sheer delight for me. Aside from being excellent players, they were both educated men, blessed with a great deal of common-sense.
“It is a pity that Welsh rugby never utilised their talents – and how we could use that now ! Brian Price was very much a Newport gentleman but he will be missed here at Neath.”
