Neath RFC

WRU Championship leaders Neath entertain Cardiff Metropolitan RFC at The Gnoll on Saturday (kick off 2.30pm).

Neath’s last outing resulted in a comprehensive 69-8 victory at bottom club Tata Steel but Saturday’s game will be a totally different proposition and Neath will need to up their game against the students who are a dangerous quantity.

In a way, it is a step into the unknown as the days are long gone when Cardiff Met featured the cream of the Welsh Secondary Schools XV most of whom were well known on the club circuit. Nowadays, the college intake attracts many students from beyond Wales.

Neath continue to rotate and welcome back skipper Ryan Evans from his school trip to France. He will partner Ben Atkins at centre while Macauley Griffiths takes over at scrum-half.

Forward changes see Jack Powell, Sion Crocker, Matthew Davies and David Griggs resume while Elis Hopkins makes a welcome return on the replacements’ bench.
