Neath RFC

Dr. Bryn John, one of Neath RFC’s former honorary medical officers, has passed away.

Bryn came to Neath in the 1970’s and practised at Briton Ferry where he was a very popular local G.P. for over 30 years. He was also Medical Director for the Neath Port Talbot Local Health Board and held several regional and national offices and became chairman of the British Medical Association in Wales.

He was a long-serving member of Neath RFC’s medical team providing care, support and advice to so many players and, when he and fellow medic Dr. Brendan Sheehan retired, the pair were honoured with Life Membership of Neath RFC.

Bryn was very active in the community through many organisations including, amongst others, Neath Round Table, Neath Rotary Club, Neath Athletic RFC, St. John’s Ambulance and Neath YMCA and in 2009 he served as High Sheriff of West Glamorgan.

Neath RFC’s condolences go to Bryn’s family at this difficult time. He will be deeply missed by his many friends and colleagues and both Club and Town will be all the poorer for his passing.
