Another amazing second-half display by Neath rescued a sixth successive league win over the students in an 11-try thriller at Cyncoed.

The students had Neath, who made 11 changes from the previous week’s WRU Cup-winning starting line-up, chasing shadows as they raced into a 31-5 lead with tries by centre Toby Clinch (2), wing Wyatt McLaughlin (2) and hooker Jamie Longyear with outside-half Ross McKay converting three.

Neath’s only first-half reply was an 11th try of the season by hooker Kian Jones but in the second-half the injury-stricken All Blacks added another five tries from No.8 Jacob Blackmore,  replacement scrum-half Rhodri Jones who was on debut, back-rower Jordan Evans, Matthew Davies and wing Louis Rees with Iestyn Morgan converting all five.

A penalty by McKay was Met’s only second-half score and they are now deeper in relegation trouble with only a game at Llanelli Wanderers in which to redeem themselves.
