Neath RFC

After the disappointment of last week’s frost-cancellation against Maesteg Harlequins, WRU Championship leaders Neath host Glamorgan Wanderers at The Gnoll on Saturday (kick off 2.30pm).

The Wanderers presently sit in 9th position in the WRU Championship. They have enjoyed three wins over Cardiff Metropolitan 35-20, Ystalyfera 32-12 and Tata Steel 59-3 but they have lost six games to Bedwas 26-37, Beddau 10-19, Maesteg Quins 12-32, Cross Keys 27-41, Pontypool nil-54 and Trebanos 11-16 who also beat them in the Cup nil-14.

Their last game was a resounding 59-3 win over Tata Steel and their recent form indicates that they have played improved rugby of late so Neath will under-estimate them at their peril.

The Blacks have named almost the same starting line-up as for last week’s postponed game with No.8 David Griggs returning for Morgan Kneath who is away.

Coach Patrick Horgan said, “Wanderers have been playing well recently so we need to be ready for their challenge which is always a strong one if we are to get the result we need. It will be a good game if the freeze relents.”

* On Boxing Day, Neath will be at home to near-neighbours Briton Ferry (kick off 2.30pm).
