Ron Waldron is 90 today (Thursday) and Neath RFC sends its sincere congratulations to one of its favourite and most dedicated sons – a remarkable player, captain and then coach during the Club’s greatest days.
Ron’s birthday celebrations actually started on Monday with an enjoyable party for family and friends which, of course, included a mass turn-out of former Neath RFC colleagues.
He is the 8th oldest Wales international – the honour of being Wales’ oldest-living Wales international belongs to another Neath man, Ron’s mentor in fact, Courtenay Meredith who is 97. In fact 4 of the top 8 oldest players played for Neath : Lewis Jones (93) and Brian Richards (92) and Ron.
There must be something in the Neath air – so Happy Birthday, Ron, from everyone at NEATH RFC !
Ron is pictured receiving the Hall of Fame cap from Nicky Downs during the 2015 Neath Rugby Supporters Club “Hall of Fame” evening.
