Neath RFC has belatedly received the sad news of the passing of two players of yesteryear.
ADRIAN TROTMAN
Adrian Trotman, believed to be Neath RFC’s oldest player, passed away recently aged 97. He deputised for Cliff Williams as Neath RFC’s hooker in 1947/48 when studying at Swansea University having been schooled at Cowbridge Grammar School where former Wales centre Idwal Rees (who married a Neath girl) was headmaster. On graduating from Swansea University, Adrian returned to Cowbridge as physics master and he played for and supported Llanharan RFC.
DAVID PULSFORD September 15, 2025
Former Pontypool winger David Pulsford, passed away aged 89. In 1962/63, he helped out Neath in one game – the penultimate fixture of the season when the Great Freeze caused a backlog of fixtures. And what a memorable appearance it was as he joined fellow try-scorer Glen Ball on the score-sheet in Neath’s thrilling 6-5 win over Cardiff at The Gnoll on Wednesday, May 3. Tony Williams got Cardiff’s try converted by Alun Priday. David also played for Newport and Monmouthshire County.
Neath RFC’s condolences go to the friends and families of both.
